NAIDCA is a space to respectfully advocate for deathcare resources and support, connections & community. Uplifting space for Native American and Indigenous deathcare epistemologies and methodologies includes acknowledging and respecting the diversity of communities and peoples as well as practices and protocols.
Deathcare can be described as those working & supporting all aspects of funerary, burial, end of life care. Including grief, historical trauma, healing, and resilience. Autonomy in deathcare includes community-centered frameworks, accessibility, resources, support, and more.
My name is Rye and I am Diné and Bilagaana from New Mexico. I am currently a PhD Candidate in Native American Studies. I recently graduated with an Associates of Science in Funeral Service Education and passed both NBE's in Art & Science. My research and writing is about Land-informed practices in deathcare. I started this page to advocate for deathcare practices and rights toward the self-determination of Native American and Indigenous peoples both locally and globally.
The NAIDCA Instagram page offers further writing, research, and advocacy about Native American and Indigenous Deathcare Autonomy.
